Catch the stage adaptation of Roddy Doyle’s The Commitments at the Palace Theatre London. In the year 2013, the blockbuster show made its debut. Under the superb direction Jamie Lloyd, the brand new production was adapted from the popular novel by Irish writer Roddy Doyle. The 1987 novel was also adapted into movie version by Alan Parker in the year 1991.

In his Barrytown Trilogy, this is the first novel. Set against the backdrop of Dublin in late 80s, the story of The Commitments revolves around a group of unemployed musicians who are trying to bring soul music in Ireland.

The Commitments is the saga of two friends who collaborates to start a band. For their assistance they seek the aid of Jimmy Rabbitte as both of them are unaware of the industry. Jimmy agrees to be their manager and names them ‘The Commitments’. He also suggests that they have to be first ever Dublin based soul group to be unique. So, he plans to initiate a soul revolution in the Irish city.

For group members, Jimmy advertises and puts together a mismatched group which was headed by Joey ‘The Lips’ Fagan. The movie adaptation was a big hit and regarded as the most famous films of Ireland. The movie features some chartbusting numbers such as "Mustang Sally", "Try a Little Tenderness", "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man", "Chain of Fools" and "In the Midnight Hour".

The movie version of The Commitments also won prestigious BAFTA award for Best Film. The two hours and twenty minutes show is recommended for 12+ kids.
